Southampton are on the verge of buying Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz.
The Israel international joined the Bundesliga winners in 2024 and didn’t enjoy regular game time.
Last summer, he joined Hamburg SV on loan but his situation didn’t improve. Therefore, Bayern Munich cut short the stopper’s stay and sent him on loan to Southampton in the winter market.
The 25-year-old excelled under Tonda Eckert, keeping nine clean sheets and conceding 24 goals from 26 matches. He played a part in helping the Saints finish fourth and qualify for the Championship playoffs.
However, the English club were expelled due to the spying scandal and will play in the second division next season.
Two weeks ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany that the spy gate will have an impact on the goalkeeper’s future. This came months after Peretz said he would be happy to extend his stay with Eckert’s side.
Spy gate no impact on Southampton move
Sky Deutschland now took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to dismiss the recent claim from Germany.
Sky claim it’s their exclusive that Southampton reached a ‘complete agreement’ with Bayern Munich to buy Daniel Peretz.
The goalkeeper’s excellent relationship with manager Tonda Eckert has been a key factor in his decision.
Vincent Kompany’s side will earn around €7.5-8m from his sale to Southampton. There’s no clarity whether this is the overall or just the fixed fee.
The parties are now sorting out minor details and only this is pending for the deal to go through. There shouldn’t be a delay as the report state the official announcement is ‘expected soon’.
With this, the Saints secure their first-choice goalkeeper for next season. Sky make no mention of the details of his contract or personal terms.

Daniel Peretz’s permanent transfer from Bayern Munich to Southampton is a win-win for all parties.
The move helps the Saints secure their No1 and he can enjoy regular game time at St Mary’s. Bayern Munich, on the other hand, will collect €7.5-8m for a player who had no future at the Allianz Arena.
