Southampton have reached an agreement with Napoli over the signing of Italian forward Manolo Gabbiadini, report Gazzetta dello Sport.

It has been reported Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, wanted Southampton to increase their offer of €16m plus €2m in bonuses by another €2m.

Today, Gazzetta claim De Laurentiis has given his approval to a Southampton deal worth €18m plus €2m in bonuses.

Gazzetta say Napoli have ensured the €2m in bonuses is easily triggered, with the newspaper saying the transfer is close to being made official. It would have to be soon really, given that the window closes on Tuesday.

Gabbiadini has struggled for prominence at Napoli, and a move to Southampton could be ideal for him to revive his career. Napoli have just brought in Leonardo Pavoletti from Genoa, and subsequently Gabbiadini looks surplus to requirements.

Earlier, it was also reported Southampton have agreed personal terms with Gabbiadini, and the Italian forward will earn €2.5m per year until 2021.
