Southampton have made an €11m offer for Lecce midfielder Morten Hjulmand, who is their ‘big target’ before the end of the transfer window.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say the Saints are bidding hard for the 23-year-old defensive midfielder.
Southampton have been busy strengthening their squad this month, with Nathan Jones keen to add as they battle against relegation.
That’s already seen Carlos Alcaraz and Mislav Oršić arrive at the club and the Welsh boss has admitted he wants more before Tuesday’s deadline.
TMW now report that they have made a ‘maxi bid’ for Hjulmand which has been rejected by Lecce, who do not want to sell this month.
The Dane is said to be Southampton’s ‘big target’ and they’ve made an €11m bid to try and tempt the Italian side into a sale, which had already been reported without it being said the move was actually rejected.
That was swiftly rejected by Lecce but the belief is that the Saints could ‘raise their offer’ as they continue to try and get their ‘big target’.
What they are willing to go to isn’t mentioned but it’s a situation to keep an eye on between now and the end of the window.
