As Southampton continue to be linked to FC Metz midfielder Lamine Camara, the French media shares some updates on the situation.
Earlier this week, Le10Sport had already reported that the Saints made a first attempt to sign the 20-year-old.
Now as Taggat backs up Southampton’s interest, it’s claimed that they battle Monaco for the signing.
The two clubs are those who ‘positioned themselves’ for Camara, although it’s really the Saints who are claimed to be showing ‘greater interest’ and ‘pushing’ to get the transfer done.
Le10Sport’s story hadn’t said how much Southampton offered, claiming that Metz would request more than his €10m Transfermarkt valuation. Now, Taggat says the French side want €20m.
That undoubtedly sounds like a lot, especially because Metz were relegated to the second division and should be in need of reviewing their finances for the upcoming season.
The update makes us wonder whether Southampton’s bid had actually been delivered or if that was a verbal offer. Either way, it does seem like the Saints are leading the race to get the youngster signed.
