On Wednesday, Fanatik reported Trabzonspor have made contact to sign Southampton’s Paul Onuachu.
There was also belief the deal to take the striker to Turkey, where the transfer window is open until September 15th, could go through this week.
Sabah now state the next few hours could be key in the Süper Lig side’s efforts to secure the Southampton player’s services.
The Turkish club have shifted their focus on the 29-year-old after Dinamo Zagreb striker Bruno Petković refused to join them.
It’s claimed the Nigeria international was ‘top of the list as an alternative’ and Trabzonspor have managed to convince him for the transfer.
The report further explains they have ‘taken a significant step forward’ in the negotiations with the Saints and the former Genk star is requesting the Championship side to let go of him and do him a ‘favour’.
Sabah don’t mention if Trabzonspor are working to sign Onuachu on a permanent transfer or a loan deal, although the aforementioned Fanatik report stated it would be a loan.
Having arrived at St Mary’s in January, the frontman has not yet managed to score a goal from 12 appearances and is now keen to leave Southampton.
