Southampton finished a respectable eleventh in the Premier League, rounding off their campaign on Sunday with a 3-1 victory over Sheffield United.

Ralph Hasenhüttl has enjoyed a good turnaround in fortunes, and Southampton deserve credit for sticking by their manager when others may have not.

Now comes the time to seriously plan for the next campaign, to try and make sure the Saints can be consistent over the whole season. One issue facing Hasenhüttl is the future of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.

The midfielder has seen himself at the centre of transfer claims over the past couple of weeks. Both Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are thought to be keen, and a move is looking quite possible.

Kicker report Southampton are looking for a replacement, and have now moved into the picture for Schalke’s Weston McKennie.

He’s reportedly also of interest to clubs including Newcastle United, Liverpool and Leicester City.

Kicker state their claim about Southampton interest is from their own sources, so it sounds pretty solid.

Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin are also keen on the 21 year old.
