Torino manager Ivan Juric is yet to renew his deal with the Italian club as he continues to be linked with a possible move to Southampton.
TuttoMercatoWeb cover the manager’s future today, reporting that if it were up to Torino chairman Urbano Cairo, then Juric would already be signed to a new deal at the club, with his current contract expiring next summer.
That’s not happened, though, and the Croatian is ‘in no hurry’ to sign anything, openly confessing as much when asked about the subject.
That has naturally led to concerns he could depart, although at this point Southamptoin remains the ‘only concrete alternative’ for him.
They’re on the hunt for a replacement for Nathan Jones and Juric is a name they have been linked to before when initially looking for the man to replace Ralph Hassenhuttl.
Indeed, we covered two reports in Italy that stated as much, with the first claiming that they approached him before appointing Jones and the second making it clear there was another bid, which was rejected by Juric again.
It seems there has been efforts since but the scenario remains the same, with TMW stating that the idea of leaving Italy ‘does not particularly warm’ Juric’s heart.
He is a manager who believes in continuity on the bench, hinting that he would prefer to stay in Torino than move elsewhere and start a new project.
Thus, Southampton’s chances of getting him seem slim at best, although his failure to sign a new contract means the door remains open, if only slightly.
