Southampton are hoping to appoint a manager soon, after Ronald Koeman decided to part ways and sign for Everton.
Former AS Roma boss Rudi Garcia has appeared as a possible candidate, but the latest reports suggest he has already declined the chance to take over at St.Mary’s.
According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Southampton officials and Rudi Garcia recently met in Paris.
Garcia was obviously tempted by the chance of managing in the Premier League, but lack of control over transfers, and Southampton’s condition to allow him to make only two additions to the backroom staff forced him to decline the offer.
It is reported Garcia has had several offers from some top clubs recently, but is waiting for the right offer and doesn’t want to rush into making a wrong decision for himself.
L’Equipe say former OGC Nice manager Claude Puel could be next on the wishlist of Southampton, although no discussions have taken place yet.
