Damion Downs is not planning to push for a move away from Southampton in the January transfer window.

That’s according to Geissblog. They report that Downs ‘wants to establish himself’ in England, with Southampton.

Downs joined Southampton in an €8m deal from FC Köln in the summer, after three years with the German side coming through their ranks.

He had 13 goals in 42 games for their first team, and the hope was that he would build on that at St Mary’s. Instead, he is yet to score in 14 games for the Saints this season.

He is yet to establish himself at the Championship club, with just one start in the league this season. He’s found himself very much playing a backup role to Adam Armstrong but has also found himself behind Cameron Archer in that respect as well.

That had led to the suggestion he might look to get out in January. But according to Geissblog’s information, that is not the case. They report that ‘no further change of scenery’ is planned for the January transfer window.

Downs, instead, is willing to show a little more patience and try to establish himself in England. It appears he is not giving up on his Southampton career just yet.

Whether that changes come the summer, remains to be seen. But for now, he’s focused on battling Armstrong for a place in Tonda Eckert’s plans.
