On Wednesday, Fotospor explained that Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan has started negotiations with Southampton over a deal for Paul Onuachu.
Last summer, the Saints allowed the striker to join the Turkish club on loan, and he’s managed nine goals and three assists so far this season.
Sabah state the Southampton owned player has pleased ‘everyone’ at the Süper Lig side, who have plans to retain him beyond his loan spell.
It’s said Trabzonspor will hold talks with the Championship side and an ‘offer will be made’ for the 29-year-old.
There’s no mention of Southampton’s request or the fee the Turkish club are willing to offer for the former Genk star. Trabzonspor have started their efforts to try and retain the Nigeria international.
Journalist Hasan Tüncel told 61saat’s YouTube channel that Trabzonspor are ‘preparing to make an offer’ to buy Onuachu from Russel Martin’s side. That’s all he has to say on this subject.
The frontman’s deal at St Mary’s lasts until 2026 and the Saints have a decision on his future in the summer. Fotospor reported yesterday that Onuachu doesn’t want to return to Southampton, if they were to continue in the Championship.
Southampton are third in the table, trailing second placed Leeds United by two points, with a game in hand.
