Out of action since the beginning of October with a shoulder injury, Southampton loanee Armel Bella-Kotchap could soon make his return for PSV Eindhoven.
That’s according to the Dutch club’s technical director Earnest Stewart, who spoke to Studio Voetbal on Sunday night, relayed by Algemeen Dagblad on Monday.
The centre-back, who moved to the Netherlands to avoid playing in the Championship with Southampton, had been in and out of Peter Bosz’s plans in the very early stages of the season, but saw his chances cut short by the upper body injury.
Stewart was keen to share news about the Germany international, and there is a belief he could ‘provide competition’ for his teammates ‘in a fortnight’, meaning he could feature before the end of the month.
The 22-year-old is on loan from Southampton without an option to buy in the deal, meaning he will return to St Mary’s when the season comes to an end.
The sooner he comes back from injury, the better for both Bella-Kotchap and the Saints, who will want him to play as much as possible between his return and the end of the campaign in order to either reintegrate him into their squad or find him another exit route.
He is under contract at St Mary’s until the summer of 2026.
