On June 7th, we covered claims from Argentina stating that Southampton have shown interest in Unión de Santa Fe’s Jerónimo Dómina.
It was also said the Saints’ efforts to sign the 18-year-old on a free loan deal with a €1m purchase option wasn’t entertained by the Argentine club.
Two days later, TyC Sports journalist Germán García Grova reported Southampton have held formal talks with Unión de Santa Fe over signing the 18-year-old. He also stated the player is keen on a move in the summer window.
Argentine journalist César Luis Merlo took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to claim the English club ‘continue to bid’ for the striker.
He says Southampton have ‘made a new offer’ to secure the Argentina U20 international’s services on a loan deal with an obligation to buy. César Luis Merlo makes no mention of any figures or if there are conditions that need to be fulfilled to make the deal permanent.
The Saints’ proposal hasn’t convinced the South American club. The journalist says Unión de Santa Fe are ‘willing to negotiate’ if Russell Martin’s side were to make an improved offer to sign Dómina.
This year, the frontman has clocked in 208 minutes from 12 games, scoring two goals in the process.
