Southampton welcome Lazio on Wednesday evening for a pre-season friendly, and the match is being covered quite widely in the media close to the Serie A club.
Corriere dello Sport report manager Marco Baroni scheduled a training session this morning and is set to announce the travelling group at some point later today before they all depart for England.
The Italian newspaper then brings a potential transfer battle with Southampton into the picture, saying: ‘Curiously they are interested in the same objective as the Biancoceleste club for the left wing.’
That man is Armand Gaëtan Laurienté, who currently plays for Sassuolo.
According to Corriere dello Sport, both Southampton and Lazio have approached the player about a transfer. Sassuolo are said to value him at €15-20m and would be pleased with Premier League interest to rival the Rome club.
Perhaps the clubs can decide that whoever loses the friendly backs out from this transfer race, give the game a little spice!
Lazio are scheduled to travel this afternoon, and as well as the match tomorrow they’ll have a couple of training sessions at Southampton’s facilities.
Then on Saturday morning they fly from England to Spain for a friendly that evening with Cadiz.
