Southampton are lining up a summer move for Pione Sisto, report Danish newspaper BT.

The Saints have been linked to Sisto previously when he was still with FC Midtjylland, but didn’t go through with their interest in the player.

Now at Celta Vigo, Southampton have obviously seen enough to make them think it’s the right time to make a move for the 23 year old. Sisto has been playing on the left of attack and has scored 5 goals and made 9 assists so far this season.

BT say Southampton’s planned swoop is entirely dependant on the club securing Premier league status, they wouldn’t make a move otherwise… and of course the player wouldn’t be so keen.

Whilst Celta Vigo have Sisto on a contract with a €40m buyout clause, BT reckon Southampton could get him for €20m. All this doesn’t mean the player would automatically agree.

The Danish newspaper believe Sisto would be wary about joining a team which may be battling against relegation again next season. On top of that, he’s done well in Spain so may prefer to stay in the country.

To make any of this relevant, Southampton need to secure survival, and Mark Hughes’ men gave themselves a lifeline at the weekend.
