Southampton are reportedly the latest club to show interest in Thomas Partey, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Atletico Madrid midfielder is considered to be a replacement idea for Victor Wanyama, who is on his way to Tottenham Hotspur on a £11m deal.
Mundo Deportivo highlights the fact that Thomas wants to stay at the Spanish club, but wants to have more playing minutes. They say he was an important part of the squad last season, being decisive in several games.
Clubs from Spain, England, France, Germany and Turkey are also said to be interested in the 24-year-old, who grew up in Atletico’s youth teams and is well valued for being a club product.
Thomas made 23 appearances last season, scoring three goals and making one assist. According to Transfermarkt, his transfer price should be around £3.75m, but it would likely be much higher.
A loan isn’t out of the question, but Southampton’s experience with how Toby Alderweireld’s stay ended may well make that difficult.
