Italian website Calcio Mercato brings today a very interesting update about the race for the Lorient winger Alexis Claude-Maurice.
Their report claims Torino have now joined the likes of West Ham, Southampton and Nice in the battle for the 21-year-old.
The most interesting thing about this story are the details about how things stand. It’s claimed that Southampton and Nice are currently the clubs leading the race.
So after being linked to the player several times, it seems West Ham have been left behind. In June, London side offered €12m plus 25% of a future sale.
Torino’s interest seems to be something new, so it’s still hard to know how far their efforts will get.
This is the first time we’ve covered claims of Southampton’s interest in Alexis Claude-Maurice, so it’s surprising to see that they lead the race for him.
The winger had 14 goals and four assists in 36 appearances for Lorient last season.
