Espanyol midfielder Marc Roca has another year left on his contract at the La Liga club, and there has been uncertainty over his future.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Southampton are keen on the Spanish midfielder, and the Premier League side are paying close attention to his contract situation.

Espanyol are reportedly negotiating a new contract with the 19-year-old, who has a release clause of €1.5m.

Marca say Espanyol want to increase the release clause to €40m. The midfielder has impressed Espanyol boss Quique Sanchez Flores during the pre-season, and has made 7 appearances in the league in this campaign.

Southampton’s interest, and that from other clubs, will make things more difficult for Espanyol, and should help the player get himself a better deal than otherwise.

Roca has been playing regularly at Espanyol this season, and continuing that could be tempting for the 19-year-old, who could stay in Spain and make a name for himself before making his next move.
