French side Lorient are eyeing up Southampton forward Moussa Djenepo after selling Dango Ouattara to Bournemouth.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say Djenepo is ‘greatly appreciated’ by those in charge of the French side as they look at potential additions.
Ouattara completed a move to the South Coast this week, leaving Lorient with a hole to fill in their side after his impressive performances in Ligue 1 this season.
That, and a potential departure for Enzo Le Fée as well means that Lorient ‘will have to strengthen’ this month and they are drawing up a list of options.
Southampton forward Djenepo is ‘greatly appreciated’ by those in charge of the club and the fact he is ‘far from being a regular’ despite four years at St Mary’s gives them hope that a deal can be done.
Furthermore, there is a belief that he ‘could be tempted’ by a move to France, either this month or when his contract expires in a few months time.
For now it appears he is just on Lorient’s list and there have been no serious moves for him, but that can always change between now and the end of the window, particularly if he continues to struggle for gametime at Southampton.
