Southampton defender Lyanco is about to conclude his permanent departure from the club, according to claims from South America.
Journalist Jorge Nicola today shares an exclusive report saying the centre-back is finalising a transfer back to Brazil.
Lyanco has been linked to several clubs from his home country recently. The reporter’s sources denied that Cruzeiro is the destination, and didn’t want to reveal who’s signing him.
“We’ve almost got a deal with a Brazilian club. I can’t give any more details because of the team’s request, but the deal is almost finalised,” said Nicola’s source.
Nicola points out that the Southampton defender was recently linked to the likes of Botafogo, Corinthians and Vasco da Gama as well.
The Saints are said to be demanding €4m for his sale, and it remains to be seen if Brazilian clubs will pay all that, given that the player is far from his peak.
Lyanco spent last season on loan at Al-Gharafa SC, and according to Nicola, the Qatari club were willing to pay €4m to sign him permanently from Southampton.
It was the player himself who denied the move, as he’s focused on making a return to Brazil. The report claims the transfer could even be announced today.
