Southampton defender Lyanco could soon leave the club, according to claims from Brazil.
Journalist Jorge Nicola claims that with only nine appearances made the season, the 25-year-old considers returning to his home country next year.
Lyanco reportedly believes he’d be used more in Brazil than he’s being at Southampton, and consequently, he could even ‘dream’ of the national team if playing more regularly.
Nicola claims two clubs from Rio de Janeiro already got in touch with the defender’s representatives. Those are Botafogo and Vasco, who ‘monitor the situation with attention’.
Even though it’s pointed out that Lyanco is currently valued by Trasnfermarkt at €4m, it seems there’s no information on how much Southampton would demand for his departure, as his contract with the club only expires in 2025.
Lyanco played 441 minutes in those nine appearances this season.
Southampton spent €7.5m to sign him from Torino in 2021, so it should be interesting to see how any negotiations with Brazilian clubs, who don’t have the same finances as Premier League sides, would be carried out.
