Southampton and Crystal Palace are still hopeful of getting a deal done to sign Palermo defender Achraf Lazaar, according to claims in Italy. The Morocco international is expected to leave the Serie A side this summer, and has been strongly linked with West Ham United this month.
It’s been claimed the Palermo leaders could sit down tonight to evaluate the offers they’ve received for the left back, and a decision is likely to be made soon. However, Southampton and Crystal Palace will face competition from La Liga side Celta Vigo.
Earlier this month we reported West Ham were keen to sign Lazaar and that Marseille and Sporting Lisbon had been taking an interest in the player. Despite being interested in Lazaar for the past few weeks, speculation has died since the East London side signed Arthur Masuaku, but they have continued to be linked with the player.
Lazaar has just 12 months left on his contract with Palermo, and subsequently the Sicilian club want to sell him in this transfer window to get a decent transfer fee for him.
