It’s no secret West Ham were desperately looking to sign a prolific goal scorer during the summer transfer window.
The Hammers were linked to Michy Batshuayi, Alexandre Lacazette, and Carlos Bacca, before they signed Simone Zaza from Juventus.
West Ham particularly made a lot of effort to sign AC Milan’s Carlos Bacca, but the Colombian was reluctant to leave.
The 30-year-old has, once again, started the season strongly for AC Milan, and is among the goals.
Bacca has been speaking to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, and was asked about the offers he received in the summer.
The Colombian insists West Ham put a great deal of effort into signing him, and that he was one of the few players who Milan could cash in on.
He said: “I was calm. I was one of the players who could bring a bit of money to the club. There were proposals from other teams, West Ham is one that insisted more.
“But staying I made the best decision, thank God. I have an important role, I always felt a leader, a mature player because I tried different leagues. This year even more because it’s my second season.”
Bacca has six goals to his name this season, and it’d be interesting to see if West Ham tried signing him again in the near future should Simone Zaza fail to find his goalscoring form.
