Tottenham and Pierre Emile Hojbjerg want to go their separate ways this summer and have made this clear to the transfer market.
That’s according to Tipsbladet, who say the midfielder could be set for a move this summer after Euro 2024 is dealt with.
They explain that both Tottenham and Hojbjerg are set ‘to go their separate ways’ after failing to do so last summer, when both had agreed to a separation but failed to find a deal that suited them.
The belief is that a deal could take some time to come fruition as Euro 2024 is in the way and action on the international transfer market is relatively low at this point in time.
Things should pick up for him once Denmark’s participation is done, though, and he will have a few weeks to work on an exit.
With 12 months left on his deal Tottenham would be happy to move him on for a fee this summer and according to Tipsbladet, both the club and player have agreed to seal a deal if it suits them.
Tottenham have even gone as far as to signal this to the market, making it clear to any suitors that they’re open to a deal. They did the same thing in the January transfer window.
They’ve not set an asking price as such and haven’t even closed the door to a loan deal, although that would be more complicated given his contract expires next summer. There is an acceptance they’ll need to negotiate at a lower price than previously, though.
Two potential options could be Napoli and Fenerbahce, who are now managed by Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, two managers who worked with him at Tottenham and remain fans.
Whether they do bid remains to be seen but Tottenham have made it clear they’re keen to move him on, and Hojbjerg is likewise interested in a transfer, so there’s a deal there to be done.
