Manchester United have seen fresh speculation emerge around Casemiro after Brazilian side Palmeiras reportedly checked on the midfielder’s situation weeks ago.

The update comes from a report by journalist Diego Firmino and adds new context to the uncertainty surrounding the Brazilian’s future at Old Trafford.

According to the report, Palmeiras contacted Casemiro’s representatives to understand his contractual and sporting scenario in Europe. The Brazilian club know that Manchester United have not resolved talks over his future yet. What we know is he isn’t keen on reducing his wages.

Casemiro actually is not the club’s main target, “but the interest is real”, according to Firmino. They have already outlined their stance if Casemiro decides to leave Europe.

The Brazilian side signalled to the midfielder’s staff that, if he does not stay in Europe, they would offer at least a two-year contract.

From a United angle, Casemiro’s intentions stand out. The report says the midfielder is not expected to renew his current deal, even after Rúben Amorim’s departure.

Firmino also stressed the midfielder’s ambition. “Sources close to the player guarantee that Casemiro wants to keep playing at a top-flight level for the next few years,” he said.

For now, Casemiro keeps his focus on Europe. However, confirmed interest from Brazil shows that options exist if his Manchester United chapter reaches its end.
