Recent weeks have seen Tottenham Hotspur draw links with a move for Lazio’s Gustav Isaksen and previously, Celtic were also seen as a candidate to sign the winger.

Today sees a report explaining Isaken’s agents held January meetings with Lazio, as Celtic, Tottenham and Bologna pushed to sign him on loan.

Speculation around the Scandinavian’s future has escalated amidst a host of impressive performances from him, as he’s scored six times and has five assists in all competitions this season. The latest update about Isaksen now comes right after his vital goal against Atalanta, as he helped Lazio pick up a 1-0 win.

Il Messaggero have revealed today that Tottenham and Celtic already attempted to sign the winger in January. Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers – along with Bologna, were pushing to sign the 23-year-old on a loan deal after Isaksen’s entourage had held a meeting with the Rome side about his future.

Olympiacos had also come forward and they were offering an option to buy. That period has been described as a ‘sliding doors’ moment. The wide player was on the market at that point but things have changed.

The Denmark international’s value is thought to have doubled and he could be a sought-after target for multiple clubs in the summer.

It remains to be seen if Celtic and Tottenham are still interested after his price hike. After all, the report states that Isaksen’s valuation can rise further if he keeps up his form in the last few games of the season.
