Newcastle United have joined the chase for Atalanta’s Luis Muriel, as per claims coming out of Italy today.

The striker managed 14 goals and 10 assists from 39 matches in all competitions last season.

He also started for the Serie A side in the friendly tie against Newcastle at St James’ Park at the end of last month.

The Colombia international has less than 12 months left on his contract and is on the agenda of Juventus this summer.

That’s what TuttoMercatoWeb are reporting and they state the Turin club are not alone as there are ‘sirens from England’ for the 31-year-old.

It’s claimed the former Sevilla man has ended up in the sights of Eddie Howe’s side. TMW add there could be ‘possible contacts during the day’ from the Magpies to sign the South American.

That’s about the only information the outlet provides about Newcastle and Muriel. If Atalanta fail to tie down the player to a new deal soon, then the summer window will be their last chance to cash in from the attacker’s sale.
