Nick Woltemade could still end up at Bayern Munich in future, despite his big money move to Newcastle United this summer.
That’s according to BILD’s head of football Christian Falk, who has continued the German stirring around Woltemade today.
He’s been talking about the Newcastle striker on the Bayern based transfer show ‘True or not True’. He and fellow journalist Tobias Altschäffl discuss various transfers and rumours and discuss their validity.
Woltemade is neither at this moment in time after his big money move to Newcastle in the summer. But he remains a hot topic in Germany, particularly after Bayern Munich also wanted him this year.
They were ultimately gazumped by Newcastle, who were happy to spend big to sign him as a replacement for Alexander Isak. Bayern had continually low-balled Stuttgart in their attempts to get the striker, despite Woltemade being keen on the move and making that clear.
There’s been plenty of salt and muck stirring from Germany since. Various figures have either put Newcastle down, questioned Woltemade or simply gone out of their way to share a comment of some sort about the transfer.
Now the focus is on Woltemade still being a target for Bayern in future. And Falk insists it’s a possibility, while getting a neat dig in at Newcastle.
“You have to say: Nick Woltemade is a very hot commodity in the Premier League right now,” he said.
“He signed with Newcastle for a lot of money until 2031. Already scored four goals in the Premier League, one in the Champions League.
“He’s only 23 years old, and he could have very well imagined a move to Munich. And I’ve heard it isn’t over either! Bayern is simply a step above Newcastle.
“I’ve heard that will continue to appeal to him in the future. He’s making a name for himself in Newcastle, and who knows, when his contract ends, whether he might become a topic of discussion at FC Bayern again.”
