Olivier Boscagli has admitted he is hoping to continue his ‘revival’ at Brighton and Hove Albion, having experienced a similarly slow start at PSV Eindhoven.
Voetbal International report comments from the defender today. He’s now a fixture in Brighton’s plans and is hoping to keep it that way moving forwards.
PSV struggles repeated at Brighton
The 28-year-old defender was back at PSV Eindhoven this week to say farewell to the Dutch club following his exit in the summer.
He spent six years with the Eredivisie side before joining Brighton in the summer. But as his exit took place in the off-season, they had not held a proper, formal goodbye.
This is something Dutch clubs often do. They invite departed players back to the club months after their departure for a moment with the fans.
Boscagli, who was a fan favourite at PSV during his time there, was ‘thanked for six years of loyal service’ during a halftime show in the clash between PSV and PEC.
Brighton revival
He then spoke to EPSN after the moment. And admitted he wasn’t concerned by his struggles at Brighton this season, and he experienced the same at PSV at first.
The defender was not included in Brighton’s squad for weeks at the start of the season. He also didn’t make his debut for the club until November 22nd. But after his first 90 minutes on December 20th, he’s added seven starts to his tally. And he’s started in Brighton’s last three Premier League games.
“My first year at PSV wasn’t too good, comparable to here at Brighton,” he said.
“We have a strong team with good players. So for me it is about showing my qualities. I have done that, so hopefully I can maintain this level.”
Now, the focus will be on further establishing himself between now and the end of the season. With Brighton pushing for Europe late on, there is no better time for the Frenchman to stake his claim for a more permanent role moving forwards.
