Toni Martinez has spent the first half of the season on loan at Rayo Majadahonda, with the West Ham owned player getting minutes to help him develop his football career.

Now he’s moving elsewhere in Spain, but continuing as a West Ham player, with AS reporting a transfer to CD Lugo.

Lugo have long has promotion dreams but the issue this season is a struggle to find the back of the net often enough. It looks like they’re way out of the running for a jump to Spain’s top flight, accumulating 23 points from 21 games.

That sees them in 14th position, and way off the top of the table. Goalscoring, or a lack of it, is a big reason.

Only four teams in the 22 club division have scored less, and none of those are above Lugo.

For West Ham, it’s a chance to see their 21 year old tested at a club with arguably more ambition than Rayo Majadahonda, and the loan move looks a good one.

AS say the player will be presented on Monday.
