Scott McTominay scored a brace for Napoli in a vital win over Torino yesterday, further cementing his hero status after his arrivsl from Manchester United last summer.
His goals helped Antonio Conte’s side go top of Serie A, as Inter Milan had lost to AS Roma earlier in the day.
McTominay’s goals took his goalscoring tally in Serie A to 11. He has now scored more goals this season than he did in any single season at Manchester United.
Now that Napoli are firmly in control of the title race, the midfielder spoke to DAZN after the win last night and revealed a nickname that fans and teammates have invented for him.
He said, as relayed by CN24: “Which nickname do I prefer? Pasquale Mazzocchi would say “Fratm”, so I choose McFratm. I like it.”
Speaking further about the possibility of winning Serie A, he said: “Scudetto? It would mean the world to win here . The level of the team from two years ago is too high. Obviously we are top of the table now, but we need to relax, we need to be calm and think game by game.”
Tuttomercatoweb have also clarified that ‘fratm’ in the Neapolitan dialect means ‘brother’ and McTominay is really enjoying being referred to as that by teammates and supporters alike.
It clearly shows that he has already formed quite a close relationship with the club’s supporters and his performances have clearly helped.
It could yet get even better if Napoli win the Serie A because the ex-Manchester United man will have had a key role to play in that.
