Aston Villa and Manchester United are keen on signing Fenerbahçe’s Yusuf Akçiçek in the summer window.
That’s according to Wednesday’s edition of Sabah, who cover Aston Villa and Manchester United ‘great interest’ in the 19-year-old.
The centre-back joined the Turkish club’s youth team from Galatasaray in 2019 and made his first team debut in 2023.
He’s made 15 appearances this season and since last November, José Mourinho used him regularly in the Europa League until they were knocked out by Rangers.
The defender’s performances and potential have seen Aston Villa, Manchester United and Bayern Munich take notice.
Sabah explain Akçiçek is a left-footed centre-back who is physically strong, and ‘significant offers’ have started to arrive for him. There’s no mention of the details of the proposals or clarity on whether the Premier League duo tabled bids for him.
Aston Villa and Manchester United, however, are to battle with Bayern Munich for Akçiçek, according to the report.
The young defender’s contract lasts until 2028 and Transfermarkt currently value him at €5.5m. The newspaper indicates the Istanbul club value Akçiçek at around €20m and this would be affordable for both the Villans and the Red Devils.
