The German media continues to be very positive about Chelsea fullback Ian Maatsen and his loan at Borussia Dortmund.

Sky Deutschland shares a story about the Bundesliga side’s transfer plans, and the 22-year-old is one of those who could end up staying there.

The outlet highlights that Maatsen’s arrival has proven to be an ‘absolute stroke of luck’ so far, given his ‘strong performances’.

There had been no big hopes about a purchase, as it’d initially take €35m to trigger the clause to buy him from Chelsea. However, since the player is keen on staying at the Bundesliga side, there’s a chance the loan could be extended.

It’s said by Sky that ‘signals have been sent to Chelsea’ on that subject, although it seems there’s no answer from the Blues yet, as the ‘outcome is still open’.

Maatsen has a contract with the Stamford Bridge side running until 2026, and is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €30m. With such a good loan spell, Mauricio Pochettino’s side shall have to think hard about what to do with him.
