Arsenal

Arsenal’s Cristhian Mosquera has dismissed claims of mounting pressure in the title race.

The Gunners are now leading the table, three points ahead of second placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

Arsenal have endured a difficult run in the last seven matches, losing four. This includes defeat to Manchester City in the EFL Cup, against Southampton in the FA Cup and two losses in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta’s side have three points from their last three league matches.

The Premier League side are also in contention to win the Champions League. They face Atlético Madrid in the European semifinal.

The first leg will take place in Madrid on Wednesday. Ahead of this clash, Monday’s edition of AS has published an interview with Cristhian Mosquera.

Arsenal not under pressure

The newspaper asks the 21-year-old about the team’s morale as the pressure is mounting after a ‘complicated few weeks’.

When responding to that, Cristhian Mosquera sends a message to his Arsenal teammates.

“Well, despite the noise that has been going on outside and that continues, inside the dressing room we are calm and confident that our work will bring the reward we want,” he said.

“It’s time to step up and show that character. Approach these upcoming matches with the best possible attitude. That’s how we’ll get through them.”

When quizzed whether there’s ‘too much nervousness or tension’ at Arsenal, Mosquera explained: “I don’t think so. From the outside, a lot of things are said until they seem like the truth, but they aren’t.”

“You hear the word ‘pressure’ a lot, but it’s not pressure at all. As the manager says, it’s really an opportunity we want to make history with this club, and that’s how we’re approaching it, with the conviction that we can seize it.”

Spain international reveals Atlético approach

Cristhian Mosquera graduated from Valencia’s youth system. He spent four years with their first team and left them for Arsenal in July 2025. Atlético Madrid tried to sign him a year before that.

AS ask him about these links, and he added: “It’s true there were some rumours.”

“My agent handles everything related to my future, and until there’s something very concrete, I ask him not to tell me anything, so he’s the one managing it. But it’s true there was some contact with Atlético.”
