Over the past few weeks, various claims have stated that clubs in Saudi Arabia have been looking at Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
Italian journalist Rudy Galetti took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to claim Al-Ittihad have come forward to sign the 33-year-old this summer.
Al-Ittihad officials and representatives from Saudi’s PIF [Public Investment Fund] have held talks with the Manchester City star.
According to Galetti, the midfielder has given his approval to the transfer to the Middle East and the two parties have reached a verbal agreement.
The Saudi Arabia club will have to negotiate a deal with Pep Guardiola’s side. This may not be an issue because the journalist claims the Premier League winners are willing to part ways with De Bruyne, who has less than a year left on his deal.
This is a surprising claim for one key reason. Three days ago, the player told Het Belang van Limburg that he will be at Manchester City next season. De Bruyne also said he’s never asked to leave the Citizens and that he didn’t hold talks with anyone over a move to Saudi this summer.
It remains to be seen whether Galetti’s claim will be backed up or dismissed.
