Jaka Bijol’s potential exit from Leeds United, just a few months after his summer arrival, has been shot down in his native Slovenia.

Ekipa cover the situation today, and they’re having none of the recent rumours about the centre-back. They say that the news of Bijol’s potential exit from Leeds to Atletico Madrid is classic ‘fake news’.

According to them, that should have been obvious. They point out that the post about the rumour came from a so-called ‘parody’ account. This was seemingly ignored and, instead, the rumour spread. It was even picked up in Spain.

But Ekipa shoot it down entirely. They explain that while it may look attractive, particularly for Slovenia, in reality it is ‘hardly likely’ to happen.

Instead, they say the ‘light of doubt’ is shining brightly on the rumour and it’s nothing more than a fake post with no real information in it.

They do concede that Bijol was on Atletico’s radar a year and a half ago. That was when he was still at Udinese. And they’re happy to accept anything can happen and perhaps the Spanish side’s interest hasn’t faded away completely.

But for now, it would be strange for Leeds to let him go given he seems to have convinced Daniel Farke in recent weeks and is now a regular at Elland Road. They want to ensure this rumour doesn’t get anywhere as quickly as possible.

The Slovenian media have good connections to Jaka Bijol and his camp, so this rumour being talked down is significant.
