Sheffield Wednesday sent a scout to the game between Benfica and Feirense on Friday night, and the Championship side followed this up by attending Belenenses’ clash against Moreirense last night.
In recent seasons Sheffield Wednesday have been sending officials to Portugal, which has coincided with Carlos Carvalhal becoming the manager of the Championship side.
Yesterday A Bola confirmed Sheffield Wednesday were on the scouting list for Benfica’s victory over Feirense, and they were joined by Premier League giants Manchester United. The Portuguese newspaper also reports today Sheffield Wednesday remained in Portugal to watch Belenenses beat Morerirense 3-0.
There have been no reports who Sheffield Wednesday were watching in either game this weekend, but there’s a pattern emerging with their scouting trips to watch Benfica.
The Yorkshire side have already attended at least three games involving the Portuguese champions this season, which includes their recent Champions League tie against Manchester United.
There’s a possibility Sheffield Wednesday are casting their eye on a Benfica player, but it’s difficult to say which one. And it would certainly be a lofty ambition.
