According to a claim in the Turkish media, Sheffield United have stepped up their pursuit of Besiktas attacking midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The former Liverpool player has recently been linked with a move to the Blades as they look to add to their squad for next season.

Hurriyet have reported on the latest developments regarding the future of Oxlade-Chamberlain, and they say the Super Lig league side want to offload him.

The 30-year-old only joined the Black Eagles last summer, but struggled to make a real impact during his debut season in Istanbul.

Subsequently, Sheffield United could look to take advantage of the situation and it’s claimed they are in talks to sign the player ahead of the transfer window opening.

The south Yorkshire side will be hoping to bounce back to the Premier League at the first opportunity and players will need to come in this summer.

It’s also reported his former club Southampton are keen to sign him and they too are speaking with his agents.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made 30 appearances for Besiktas last season, scoring 4 goals.

He’s contracted to the Turkish club until June 2026.
