If the latest report from France is correct, courtesy of Foot Mercato, then Marseille’s pressing for Iliman Ndiaye is producing some results.
Despite facing an initial rejection from the Sheffield United star, the Ligue 1 side refused to take no for an answer, and continued to talk to the player’s family and entourage to try and get him to change his mind.
It was recalled that Pablo Longoria, the club’s president, is prone to producing miracles when faced in such situations, and he could be working on a new one now.
Foot Mercato state Marseille are ‘forcing’ for the Sheffield United forward and are ‘refusing to give up’, as they ‘continue to exchange’ with the newly promoted Premier League club.
Initially tempted by the move to the south of France, Ndiaye then was seduced by the renewal offer put on the table by the Blades, who want him to be central to their plans next season.
However, Marseille never let go, and with the two clubs still negotiating, there’s a belief the deal could go up to €20m for the Senegal international.
Either way, the Ligue 1 side want to close this deal ‘very quickly’, and still have the player’s desire to move, as he is described as being ‘very excited’ at the idea of moving.
Still, Marseille have their guard up after the last flip-flop, and will not get their hopes up fully until they have the deal over the line.
