Philippe Sandler is on a season-long loan deal at Anderlecht from Manchester City and hasn’t featured in the league since October.

Sandler’s injury absence gave Elias Cobbaut an opportunity to feature regularly for his side and his performances saw him debut for Belgium in the last international break.

He has also caught attention from other European clubs.

According to Le Soir, Sheffield United and Atalanta are interested in the 22-year-old. The defender was in attendance at the Etihad on December 29th to watch the Blades in action against Manchester City.

It’s claimed Chris Wilder’s side have so far not submitted an offer for the defender and should they table one, Anderlecht will not oppose his transfer in January because they are short of funds.

Another Belgian outlet, Het Laatste Nieuws, also claims ‘English sources’ have informed them that Sheffield United are showing ‘serious interest’ in Cobbaut.

HLN state the Premier League side would prepare a bid for Cobbaut and Anderlecht would cooperate to sanction his sale.

Cobbaut is primarily a left-back who can also operate as a central defender. Anderlecht have largely used him in the heart of the back four this season.
