While there is no official announcement yet, Sheffield United are well on their way to sign Anis Ben Slimane from Brøndby.
The midfielder was said to be looking for an exit from the Danish side, and he appears to have finally found it, as the Blades are paying around €2m + bonuses for him.
The situation is covered by TuttoMercatoWeb on Tuesday, who tell their readers all about the fact he has had his Sheffield United medicals booked, which will take place before he puts pen to paper on his new contract.
What they also recall is that Frosinone ‘had also come forward’ for Slimane, and the player had even ‘given his willingness’ to the transfer.
However, Sheffield United then swooped in and ‘put the pedal to the metal’ in order to close a deal quickly with Brøndby and ensure they gifted Paul Heckingbottom the player he wanted to bolster his squad ahead of a tough season in the Premier League.
Born in Denmark but choosing to play for Tunisia, the 22-year-old has played 121 time for the Danish side, scoring nine goals and picking up 12 assists in all competitions.
