According to a claim in the Turkish media, Sheffield United are still in the running to sign Besiktas attacking midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The 30-year-old has been linked with a move to Bramhall Lane in recent weeks, but face competition from his former club Southampton.
Fotomac have reported on the latest developments regarding the future of Oxlade-Chamberlain as Besiktas look to offload him this summer. It’s claimed Sheffield United, along with Southampton, are the clubs that he could sign for in this window.
Again, it’s reported Sheffield United are in transfer talks to sign the former Liverpool man as he eyes a return to England. Oxlade-Chamberlain only joined Besiktas last summer as a free agent but failed to make an impact during his debut season in Istanbul.
With the Black Eagles keen to get the player off their wage bill, there’s a chance the Blades could land him on a free transfer.
Oxlade-Chamberlain made 30 appearances for Besiktas last season, scoring 4 goals. He’s contracted to the club until June 2026.
