It appears that Sheffield United, as they look to bolster their squad ahead of their return to the Premier League, have targeted Scandinavia as a good hunting ground.
The Blades are already close to signing Anis Slimane from Brøndby IF in Denmark, and are now trying to wrap up the signing of a new striker.
That man is Bénie Traoré, according to Aftonbladet, who boasts one cap for Ivory Coast’s U23 squad, who currently plays for Häcken in Sweden, where he is making an impact.
Signed from ASEC Mimosas back in 2021, the 20-year-old has scored 12 goals in 14 appearances so far for the club, and that has caught the eye of Sheffield United.
Aftonbladet even state that the forward is now ‘very close’ to a move to the Premier League, where he will sign for the Blades.
Häcken are said to have ‘agreed on a transfer fee’ with Sheffield United for a fee of just under £4m (SEK 53m), with another possible £900k or so (SEK 12m) in bonuses, and if ‘nothing unforeseen happens’, the deal is expected to be announced ‘within the next few weeks’.
They even go as far as stating the transfer is ‘in principle complete’, because the forward has ‘also agreed with the club on his personal contract’.
All that’s left is to ‘write the papers’ and for Traoré to undergo the necessary medical.
