After Pepe parted ways with Besiktas, it was simply inevitable that he would be linked to several other clubs in the coming days.

The gossip has already started, and one of the sides are Wolverhampton Wanderers, who according to the Turkish press could have the assistance of Jorge Mendes to land the defender.

The Portuguese media covers it today, and really likes the idea. Newspaper O Jogo, for example, give an almost entire page for the rumour.

What O Jogo likes so much about the story is that Pepe would have at Wolverhampton ‘a set of factors that can contribute to his growth’.

Pepe has been managed by Nuno Espírito Santo at Porto, and is a teammate of Rui Patrício, João Moutinho and Ruben Neves in the Portuguese national team. There are also other Portuguese players who would make help easily adapt to the club.

O Jogo writes that Pep could ‘impose himself with reasonable ease’ in a three defender system, which would suit him well at the age of 35.

Regarding Wolves’ competition, O Jogo mentions invites from China, the Middles East and a campaign from Corinthians fans who want him at the club. So in Europe, the Molineux side is all Pepe would get for now.

This sounds like a hope of the Portuguese media.
