Tottenham continue to follow Vasco forward Rayan, but the Brazilian club are now close to securing him to a new long-term contract. The 19-year-old has impressed throughout 2025, and his form convinced Vasco to move quickly to protect their asset.

Speaking to Globo Esporte, director of football Admar Lopes confirmed that negotiations to extend Rayan’s deal until 2028 are progressing well.

“The conversations are advanced and things are going well, both with the family and with the agents and the player. We are confident that, in the coming weeks or by the end of the year, we will be able to conclude this renewal. It is also the player’s wish,” he said.

Rayan’s current contract runs until December 2026, but Vasco plan to increase both his salary and release clause. “A renewal of a player with this impact is to increase everything. The financial terms, the duration of the contract and the release clause. All to protect Vasco da Gama,” Lopes added.

Until now, Vasco were targeting around €30m for his transfer. We can only expect this figure to go higher as soon as he signs the extension.

Manager calls Tottenham target ‘the most complete striker in Brazil’

Vasco manager Fernando Diniz has joined in the praise for the teenager. Reacting to comments from legendary forward Romário, as relayed by ESPN, the coach said Rayan is the most complete striker in Brazilian football.

“When I arrived here, I told them he was unsellable. Sell the pitch, sell the goalposts, but don’t sell Rayan. His potential is immense. He’s only at the beginning. Maybe he’s the most complete striker in Brazilian football, without a shadow of doubt,” Diniz told reporters.

The manager also highlighted Rayan’s versatility. “He can play wide, as a number nine, as a ten. He’s strong, explosive, left-footed, scores goals… He has everything you can imagine in a player. He’s very special.”

Tottenham’s interest remains strong

Tottenham were the first Premier League club to take serious action over Rayan. They sent representatives to Brazil last month and contacted the Brazilian FA to check his eligibility for a work permit.

The renewal will likely raise his price, but the London side are expected to keep following him closely as the January window approaches.
