Carlos Alcaraz’s move from Southampton to Juventus became one of the main stories in the Italian media this week, given how late the Old Lady managed to find a deal for the midfielder.
As TMW Radio today talked about the transfer, they discussed that with manager Massimo Bonanni.
The manager, who currently works at Ostiamare Youth, claimed he’s not sure whether Juventus made a good deal by agreeing such a big price with Southampton.
“I don’t know him, if it’s true what I read, the less he plays the less Juve pays for the loan, but the figure of almost €50m for the redemption seems excessive to me. Gudmundsson for example the €25-28m asked by Genoa is worth it all, Alcaraz I don’t know”.
Juventus announced that they’re signing Alcaraz from Southampton on a loan deal until the end of the season, paying €3.7m for the spell, plus potential €1.9m in bonuses.
Then they’ll have the option to buy him for another €49.5m, which would be paid in three years.
Reports from the Italian media today claimed that following the initial medical examinations in Southampton, Alcaraz now did another battery of tests in Turin.
It’s all fine for the transfer to go through, but due to paperwork issues, he wasn’t able to train with the Old Lady’s squad today.
That may be a reason to delay his debut in Italy.
