The love story between Barcelona and Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has existed for a while, and it doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.
The latest one to fuel those rumours is Barça winger João Félix, who has now said he’d like to have his compatriot by his side in the squad.
Interviewed by Jijantes and with quotes relayed by Sport, the player said Barcelona should go after the Manchester City player, giving several reasons for it.
“If I were Deco for one day I would sign Bernardo Silva, without a doubt. Let them bring him in. Have you seen him play? He’s even better as a person. He’s from Cancelo’s generation. Now players last until they are 35-36 years old. He asks me about Barcelona, he has his sister-in-law here, about how things are here, the climate, tax issues… I tell him that everything is fine for him to come.”
The most interesting thing about this interview is that João Félix not only suggested the signing, but even talked about the potential price. Players usually don’t want to get involved in that kind of subject, so that’s definitely entertaining to see him saying that.
“I don’t think Manchester City will make it easy. For 50 million, I would bring him in for 60-70. He’s worth it. He would like to wear the ’10’. It’s a very important number at the club, you can’t give it to just anyone, you have to be careful. It’s my favourite number, but I’ve never worn it.”
Bernardo Silva continues to be protected by Manchester City with a contract until 2026, and is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €80m. Featuring for Pep Guardiola’s side this season, the midfielder has nine goals and five assists in 38 matches.
Like the manager himself recently said, it’s not his stats that show how good he is.
