Leeds United parted ways with Jesse Marsch on February 6th and have not yet appointed his permanent successor.

Two days ago, the Whites confirmed Michael Skubala will continue to be in the charge of the club for the ‘upcoming fixtures’.

Alfred Schreuder has been included in the target list and was in attendance at Elland Road for Leeds’ defeat against Manchester United last weekend. The Dutchman has been without a job since Ajax sacked him in January.

De Telegraaf journalist Valentijn Driessen explains the English club looking at Schreuder shows having managerial experience at Ajax could help in getting a move to the Premier League.

Driessen suggests Schreuder would have been at the Premier League side if their sporting director, Victor Orta, had his way.

“There were people at Leeds who were open to that. I think it went through the technical director, among others,” Driessen said, as quoted by Ajax Showtime.

“But you see where you can possibly go if you have Ajax on your resume as a trainer, then you can just be piloted into the Premier League. But then you have to have a technical director who has something to say at his club.”

The Whites decided not to appoint the 50-year-old because of the difference between Orta and Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani. According to the report, the latter will make the final call on appointing the new manager.

Leeds are 17th in the table and a point ahead of Everton and AFC Bournemouth, who are in 18th and 19th spot respectively.
