Brighton and Hove Albion will hold ‘secret negotiations’ with VfB Stuttgart over Deniz Undav as the two sides look to wrap up a permanent deal for him.
That’s according to Sport BILD, who say the striker is on his way to getting his wish of remaining with the German side.
Undav has been on loan with Stuttgart this season after a disappointing first year at Brighton and has been one of the stars of the show, forming a deadly partnership with Serhou Guirassy and firing the German side into the Champions League.
He’s keen to make the deal permanent and has publically urged the two teams to do a deal, but Brighton’s asking price of €20m has long been a problem point for Stuttgart.
Sport BILD insist that remains the case today, stating the price is actually €20-22m plus €5m in wages, a ‘big package’ for the Germans to pay out.
Thus, they want to talk to Brighton to try and work something out and so a trip has been planned for Stuttgart officials.
They will travel to Brighton in order to negotiate the exact details of the deal, preferring to meet face to face to do so.
Whether they can find an agreement remains to be seen, with the Seagulls holding firm to a price that Stuttgart have long insisted they can’t afford even with Champions League money behind them.
