Reports from Italy continue to say Inter Milan midfielder João Mario has blocked a move to Watford.
First it was the journalist Alfredo Pedulla who published the information on Sunday, and website Calcio Mercato has the same claims today.
They both say that as Inter Milan try to continue to make more signings in the January window, they need to sell, with João Mario being a candidate.
And despite Watford’s offer to take him, the player was not keen on making the move. The reason for that, according to Calcio Mercato, is that he wants a club who’s playing European football this season.
Inter Milan paid €40m to sign João Mario from Sporting in 2016, and since he never met the club’s expectations, so they have been looking to recover at least part of the money spent on him.
Now João Mario is said to be thinking about an offer he has from Sevilla, while the Spanish club and Inter negotiate. But Calcio Mercato doesn’t take Watford as a real possibility anymore.
