Earlier today we covered claims from Turkey that Tottenham have made an offer for Eljif Elmas.
Spurs were said to have put €19m on the table for Fenerbahce, along with Dutchman Vincent Janssen, who still has some fans in Turkish football.
Elmas, a 19 year old midfielder, has been attracting a lot of transfer attention in recent months, and it was claimed Spurs would be up against clubs including Sevilla and Atletico Madrid.
It was a big technicolour claim from Fotomac, and has spread all over the rest of the country’s sport media. However, this can happen a lot in Turkey and then the story completely disappear, but now there’s another source backing it up elsewhere.
Several Italian clubs are interested, including Napoli.
CalcioNapoli24 have published what they say is an exclusive, so their own information, that Tottenham have, ‘in recent hours’, offered €19m plus Janssen.
We don’t think they’re simply trying to steal the story, it’s likelier that someone is spreading this information.
That of course doesn’t make it true, however, it does make it less likely that it’s been plucked from fresh air.
